Talks between Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fishing, Rural Development and Water and Forests Ahmed El Bouari, and France’s Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and French Nationals Abroad, Laurent Saint-Martin, on Tuesday in Paris, focused on strengthening trade between the two countries.

The scope for collaboration between Morocco and France is “enormous,” Saint-Martin told MAP following his meeting with El Bouari on the sidelines of the Paris International Agricultural Show (SIA) held on February 22-March 2, stressing the importance of further consolidating investment and trade flows between the two “friendly” countries.

The meeting emphasized the common interest of a partnership based on a “win-win” approach and “co-building.”

The French minister also noted that President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to the Kingdom last October at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI marked a “key” moment in Franco-Moroccan diplomatic relations.

“Now it’s time to transform it commercially in the interests of both our countries,” he stressed.

Regarding the choice of Morocco as the first guest of honor at the SIA, Saint-Martin stated that it reflects the quality of the cooperation between the Kingdom and France and highlights the expansion of their trade relations.

This choice, like that of France at the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM), he said, symbolizes the vast potential for cooperation “that we still have to build together.”

Hosted under the theme “Morocco, centuries of flavors”, the Kingdom’s 476 m2 pavilion at this agricultural show showcases several aspects of Moroccan authenticity and uniqueness, through cultural and artistic events and tastings of Moroccan products and dishes.
