In line with the enlightened Royal vision, Morocco is making education a strategic pillar of solidarity-based and innovative South-South cooperation, the Moroccan delegation stressed on Wednesday during an open session of the African Union Peace and Security Council (AU PSC).

“Faithful to the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco reaffirms its firm commitment to working alongside its African brothers and partners to ensure that every child can learn in a safe, inclusive and hopeful environment,” the Moroccan delegation emphasized during this open session on “education in conflict situations in Africa,” noting that for the Kingdom, education is an essential driver of peace and development.

In this regard, the delegation recalled that every year, thousands of students from the five regions of the continent benefit from scholarships offered by the Kingdom, granting them access to high-level university and professional training in strategic fields such as science, health, agriculture, engineering, and teacher training.

This major pillar of South-South cooperation, embodying the values of solidarity and win-win partnership, is implemented by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), which plays a central role in welcoming, supporting, and ensuring the success of young Africans, the delegation continued.

It also noted that, beyond training, the Kingdom shares its expertise in educational reform, content digitization, and planning continued education in times of crisis, citing joint projects with several African countries aimed at building and rehabilitating educational infrastructure, training national education professionals, and strengthening educational systems in the more vulnerable areas.

The delegation further pointed out that armed conflicts and prolonged crises affecting certain states have devastating impacts on education systems, noting that the destruction of school infrastructure, the forced displacement of teachers and students, and prolonged interruptions to classes gravely impede access to education.
