At the order of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan inaugurated the “Prince Moulay Abdellah” stadium on Thursday in Rabat, following reconstruction work that brought this prestigious sports infrastructure in line with FIFA 2030 standards.
The new stadium’s reconstruction comes in execution of the High Royal Guidelines, aimed at equipping the Kingdom with high-quality sports infrastructure ahead of upcoming major international events, particularly the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The stadium has been designed to meet the requirements of high-level sporting competitions.
An architectural gem, the stadium stands out for its modernity, sustainability, and connectivity. It was built by Moroccan professionals in accordance with the highest international standards.
The “Prince Moulay Abdellah” stadium is equipped with a state-of-the-art hybrid natural grass pitch, the first of its kind in Africa, combining natural grass with synthetic fibers to deliver an optimal playing surface in terms of drainage, resistance, recovery time, performance, sustainability, and player safety.
With a total capacity of 68,700 seats, the stadium features high-end facilities, including three categories of hospitality areas. It offers 110 boxes and five hospitality lounges accommodating nearly 5,400 seats, as well as a dedicated area for people with reduced mobility.
This ultra-modern sports complex also includes a large media area for print and broadcast journalists, fully equipped with the necessary logistical and technical resources.
The redevelopment project also involved the construction of five bridges to facilitate access to the stadium, along with six parking lots.
Upon his arrival at the “Prince Moulay Abdellah” stadium, HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan reviewed a Royal Guard detachment presenting honors, before being greeted by the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of the Budget and President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, the Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Region and Governor of Rabat Prefecture, the President of the Regional Council as well as representatives of the civil authorities from the Wilaya.
His Royal Highness Crown Prince was also greeted by the Director of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency, the Regional Director of Health and Social Protection, the Director General of the General Society of Works of Morocco, the Director General of the National Agency for Public Facilities, as well as the project’s architects.
