King Mohammed VI presided over the double wedding of Prince Moulay Hicham’s daughters, Faïza and Hajar, on Wednesday in a private and family-centered ceremony held in the Moroccan capital.

The event was attended by a small circle of close relatives and friends, reflecting the intimate nature of the celebration.

The ceremony, noted for its simplicity and warmth, drew widespread attention on social media, particularly following a post by Prince Moulay Hicham on Facebook.

In his message, the prince expressed his immense joy at seeing his daughters enter married life. He emphasized that both brides had married “wonderful husbands” and expressed the family’s sense of closeness to the couples even at the start of their new journeys.

Prince Moulay Hicham wrote on Facebook:

“Yesterday, Malika and I bid farewell to our daughters as they entered married life. We are delighted that they have married such wonderful men, with whom we already feel a close connection. The ceremony took place in the presence of family and close friends.”

He also shared the emotional significance of the day, noting his pride and happiness in seeing his daughters marry individuals he considers part of the family from the very beginning. He added:

“I will leave it to Faïza and Hajar to choose the photos they wish to share and to express the story of this joyful event in their own words in the coming days.”

The prince’s post received a strong response on social media, with followers congratulating him and his family on the joyous occasion. Many praised his simple and heartfelt way of sharing this private family moment with the public.

The celebration, which included a traditional dowry ceremony (Sadak), highlighted the family’s preference for a personal and intimate approach, rather than an elaborate public event.

This event reinforces the Moroccan royal family’s tradition of combining family-centered ceremonies with modern expressions of joy and privacy, a balance that has consistently resonated with the public.
