Morocco has adopted, under HM King Mohammed VI’ Wise Leadership, an integrated policy that makes African capacity building a strategic priority, notably through support for regional initiatives and economic and social projects, said the Speaker of the House of Councillors, Mohamed Ould Errachid, on Friday in Laayoune.
In an address at the opening of the 10th General Assembly of the African Parliamentarians’ Network on Development Evaluation (APNODE), Ould Errachid emphasized that promoting African parliamentary cooperation in the field of development evaluation lies at the heart of the approach adopted by the Kingdom in its relations with the Continent.
This approach, he noted, is based on strengthening joint action and establishing a partnership grounded in mutual benefit and respect for national priorities.
He noted further noted that the major structuring projects underway in the southern cities of the Kingdom, such as the diversified network of ports, including the Atlantic Port of Dakhla and the new phosphate port in Laayoune, as well as major road axes like the Tiznit–Dakhla expressway, renewable energy projects, green hydrogen projects, and large-scale seawater desalination projects—are strengthening the position of these provinces and opening wide prospects for sustainable development.
This dynamism is further reinforced by the strategic initiatives launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, such as the Royal Initiative for the Atlantic Africa and the Africa–Atlantic gas pipeline project—initiatives that embody not only structural investments but also a comprehensive vision of development as a shared African endeavor, based on continuous evaluation and linking local impact to the continental dimension, Ould Errachid stated.
