Mississippi State University (MSU) and the International University of Rabat (UIR) signed on Friday several education cooperation agreements in Starkville (Mississippi) with a view to expanding collaboration and partnership between the two institutions into new strategic areas.
Inked by UIR President Noureddine Mouaddib and MSU President Mark Keenum, in the presence of Morocco’s ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, these agreements expand collaboration to include agriculture, architecture, business and applied research and will help co-sponsor doctoral degrees in science, engineering and technology.
During his visit to MSU, Mr. Amrani held an interactive discussion with nearly fifty Moroccan graduates and students pursuing their studies within the framework of the academic partnership established in 2015 between MSU and UIR.
The diplomat explained that this meeting is part of a broader dynamic, “that of a Morocco resolutely investing in its human capital, convinced that knowledge, mobility, and academic excellence are sustainable drivers of sovereignty, competitiveness, and influence.”
This academic cooperation, which has benefited more than 300 Moroccan engineers in strategic areas (aerospace, automotive, and information technology), illustrates “a clear vision, a deliberate choice, and a sustained ambition,” the ambassador pointed out.
Amrani also underlined the special care bestowed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI upon the Moroccan community living abroad, while highlighting the central role of youth in the Royal Vision.
“The Kingdom supports its talented individuals, values their achievements, and considers them natural actors of its development, bearers of a free, impactful, and lasting contribution,” he added.
In this regard, he encouraged Moroccan students and graduates to maintain close and dynamic ties with their country of origin and to remain active in all initiatives aimed at promoting the image of an ambitious, credible, and forward-looking Morocco.
“Your individual success draws its strength when it is part of a collective project: that of a Morocco of progress, openness, and shared responsibility,” he underlined.
For his part, UIR President expressed his pride in the remarkable path of the Moroccan graduates who benefited from the UIR-MSU dual degree program, highlighting their ability to excel in leading scientific and technological areas in the United States.
Mr. Mouaddib reaffirmed UIR’s full commitment to supporting these graduates in their professional integration and their future contribution to Morocco’s development.
The students and graduates present, both in the room and via videoconference, unanimously hailed the strength and strategic scope of this academic cooperation, expressing their gratitude to the two institutions for the guidance, support and trust that have marked their academic journeys.
