Morocco’s Upper House Deputy Speaker Meets Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly

Deputy Speaker of Morocco’s House of Councillors Lahcen Haddad met on Monday in Rabat with Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, who is currently on a working visit to the Kingdom.

The meeting was an opportunity to examine prospects for cooperation between the two friendly countries, according to a press release from the House, adding that both sides reaffirmed strong historic ties between the two countries.

The two parties also expressed their shared willingness to elevate these relations to a multidimensional strategic partnership, commensurate with the position of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the regional and international stages.

In this regard, Haddad stressed spoke of promoting cooperation between the two legislative institutions, particularly through the exchange of experiences in the legislative and oversight fields, while activating the role of parliamentary friendship groups to help support the development processes in Morocco and Pakistan.

According to the press release, the two sides also discussed regional and international issues of common interest, particularly in the Islamic world, affirming the importance of coordinating positions within international bodies to defend issues of peace, sustainable development, and the fight against terrorism, as well as opening up new prospects for economic, scientific and cultural cooperation, particularly in areas of trade, higher education, renewable energy, skills training, and military cooperation.

The Speaker of the Pakistani National Assembly emphasized that these discussions constitute a new cornerstone in the process of creating a solid strategic relationship based on mutual respect and common interests, reflecting the vitality of Moroccan-Pakistani relations and the willingness of both countries to elevate such ties.
