The Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Paris recently organized an exhibition honoring Moroccan soldiers who fought in the First and Second World Wars, in recognition of their sacrifices and their contribution to defending the values of freedom and peace.

Organized in collaboration with the association “Mémoire France-Maroc” (France-Morocco Memory), this exhibition aims to shed light on the shared historical memory between Morocco and France, by highlighting the role of Moroccan soldiers within the forces engaged in the two world wars. These soldiers made immense sacrifices on various fronts and contributed to decisive moments in the history of Europe and the world in the 20th century.

The exhibition featured archival photographs, previously unpublished historical documents, and testimonials recounting the personal and military journeys of these combatants and their battlefield engagements. It provided an opportunity for the many visitors to gain a better grasp of the historical and political context of the time, while highlighting the extent of sacrifices made by Moroccan soldiers in defense of the principles of freedom and dignity.

The event illustrated deep human ties forged between the Moroccan and French peoples through these shared trials, where the blood shed on the battlefield helped to forge historical relations based on mutual respect and recognition of the heroic acts accomplished during these difficult times.

The exhibition, which coincided with the open house organized by the consulate on the last Saturday of each month, was particularly popular with the Moroccan community and researchers and specialists in Morocco-France history and relations.
