The 7th edition of the Open Days of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) kicked off on Sunday in Rabat, reflecting the DGSN’s firm commitment to strengthening its close ties with citizens.

The opening ceremony of these open days, which coincide with the 70th anniversary of the creation of the DGSN, was chaired by the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, and the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi.

This edition, which will continue until May 22, reflects the DGSN’s constant commitment to modernizing and improving the public police service as well as the quality of services offered, in line with the High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

This event also aims to strengthen the DGSN’s openness to its social environment and to inform the public about the missions carried out by the various security units and corps to ensure the protection of citizens and their property, and to maintain public order.

These open days also provide an opportunity to showcase all the equipment and tools made available to the security services.

The opening ceremony, held in the presence of several government members, the President of INTERPOL, Lucas Philippe, the Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, Mohammed Ben Ali Koman, the President of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, Abdulmajeed bin Abdullah Al-Banyan, as well as several judicial, civil, and military figures, provided an opportunity to present the various police formations and units, as well as the DGSN’s logistical and operational resources.

Speaking on behalf of the DGSN, Divisional Commissioner Rida Chbouh stated that this event aims to consolidate the achievements and successes of previous editions, notably by strengthening trust between citizens and security and police institutions, and by improving the general sense of security.

Referring to the anniversary of the DGSN’s creation, Chbouh emphasized that the Directorate proudly commemorates, every year in May, a glorious history of unwavering loyalty to the Nation’s sacred principles and values, as well as a constant commitment to serving the security of the country and its citizens.

It is also an ideal opportunity to celebrate the successes of the first generation of men and women in national security, adding that the anniversary of the DGSN’s creation is an essential annual rendezvous to strengthen ties between successive generations of police officers and convey a strong message: “All for a Safe Morocco,” where everyone benefits from security, development, and stability, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

The official highlighted that this year, the anniversary coincides with the inauguration of the new DGSN headquarters in Rabat, noting that this integrated security complex offers an optimal working environment for law enforcement, thus allowing them to best fulfill their heavy responsibilities and noble mission, namely guaranteeing the safety of citizens and ensuring the security of all foreigners, both residents and visitors.

On this occasion, the audience watched a video tracing the history of the DGSN, as well as various demonstrations highlighting the different police and security professions, and the multiple specialties and skills the Directorate possesses.

The opening ceremony was marked by the presentation of Royal Wissams to several National Security officials, as well as tributes paid to former Directors General of National Security, namely Bouchaib Rmail, Cherki Drais, Hafid Benhachem, M’hammed Dryef, and Ahmed El Midaoui.

Prior to the official launch of the seventh edition of the DGSN Open Days, a field visit was organized to the Directorate’s new headquarters in Rabat.

Several national and international figures, civil and military, as well as media representatives, participated in this visit to discover the facilities of this new, modern infrastructure.

The DGSN Open Days, launched in 2016 in Casablanca, have become an annual event allowing citizens of all ages and backgrounds to discover the different facets of the policing profession and interact directly with National Security agents.

This event, which was previously held in Casablanca, Marrakech, Tangier, Fez, Agadir, and El Jadida, offers citizens an opportunity to meet police officers and learn about the professions and activities of the National Security services.
