Morocco will remain a committed, supportive and readily available partner to align with the advancement of cybersecurity capacities across Africa,” Ambassador Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) Mohamed Methqal said on Monday in Rabat.
Reaffirming Morocco’s commitment to Africa’s development, the Kingdom will continue to act as a committed, supportive and readily available partner in strengthening African cybersecurity capacities, particularly through backing initiatives led by the General Directorate for Information Systems Security (DGSSI) and the African Network of CERTs, Methqal stated at the opening of the ANCA-CERT Executive Leadership Programme in Cybersecurity, the operational body of the African Network of Cybersecurity Authorities (ANCA).
In this regard, Methqal emphasized that His Majesty King Mohammed VI has placed South-South cooperation at the very heart of Morocco’s foreign policy, advancing a vision rooted in solidarity and action, where the exchange of experience and expertise is ongoing and ever-present.
He noted that this Royal Vision puts the human element and skills development at the core of all actions, projects, programmes and initiatives.
“The acceleration of the digital transition and the contribution to strengthening cybersecurity in Africa stand as key priorities within Morocco’s cooperation programmes, implemented through various capacity-building programmes and experience-sharing schemes with fraternal African countries,” Methqal affirmed.
In this context, AMCI, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, is actively engaged alongside all its technical partners, including the DGSSI, in contributing to the implementation of this Royal Vision with brotherly African countries and countries of the Global South in general, he specified.
AMCI’s action is based on the promotion of South-South cooperation that fosters the exchange of expertise, the transfer of savoir-faire, and the development of human capital, Methqal affirmed.
He further underlined that Morocco is contributing to the emergence of a new generation of African leaders, decision-makers and experts through its numerous training programmes, capacity-building and efforts to network African expertise, capable of addressing the continent’s strategic challenges, particularly in advanced fields such as cybersecurity and digital transformation.
