National team head coach Walid Regragui announced on Sunday that Lions of the Atlas midfielder Azzeddine Ounahi will be unavailable for the rest of the competition.
“Ounahi picked up an injury during training on Saturday. He is suffering from a calf tear and will not be able to play in this AFCON,” Regragui said at the post-match press conference following the Morocco–Tanzania match (1–0), adding that Ounahi will be sidelined for five to six weeks.
“It was an old injury he had sustained in Girona. Unfortunately, we have lost our technical leader. Yesterday was difficult for everyone. We had to qualify for him,” Regragui added.
