The Mohammed VI University Hospital Center (CHU) of Agadir, which will be commissioned in execution of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, will contribute to the improvement of the quality of health services and the training of skills in the Souss-Massa region, affirmed the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tahraoui.
In a statement to the press on the occasion of the inauguration by HM King Mohammed VI of the Mohammed VI International University Hospital Complex of Rabat, the Minister stressed that the Agadir CHU project illustrates the Royal Vision for proximity health services benefiting female and male citizens, just as it aims to reinforce spatial equity in access to care.
This medical structure, with a capacity of 867 beds, represents a new generation of CHUs equipped with modern equipment, notably robotic surgery platforms, modern digital operating theaters, and emergency and intensive care units meeting modern international standards, Tahraoui stressed.
Mobilizing 1,400 health professionals, the Agadir CHU, a public institution providing tertiary-level care and services, will fulfil missions of care, training, research, expertise, innovation, and public health, he indicated.
Falling directly within the scope of the objectives of the Agadir Urban Development Program, which grants a prime position to the development of the health offering, the realization of the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center of Agadir will allow, alongside the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, the emergence of a genuine medical hub of excellence in the Souss-Massa region.
