The Algerian national football team qualified for the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco after defeating Burkina Faso 1-0 on Sunday evening at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, in the second match of Group E.
The winning goal for the Algerian team was scored by Riyad Mahrez (23′, penalty kick).
Thanks to this victory, the second in a row after its 3-0 win over Sudan on the first day, Algeria now has 6 points and is guaranteed to finish atop its group.
Second place is occupied by Burkina Faso (3 points), which leads Sudan on goal difference, winner in the other match in this group against Equatorial Guinea (1-0).
On the third day, scheduled for the 31st of this month (5 p.m.), Algeria will face Equatorial Guinea, while Sudan will take on Burkina Faso.
