Algeria qualified for the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which runs in Morocco until January 18, after defeating the Democratic Republic of the Congo 1-0 in the Round of 16 match played on Tuesday at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.
The only goal of the match was scored by Adil Boulbina in extra time (119’).
Algeria reached the Round of 16 by finishing top of Group E with a perfect record, following victories over Sudan (3-0), Burkina Faso (1-0), and Equatorial Guinea (3-1).
For their part, the Democratic Republic of the Congo finished second in Group D after a win against Benin (1-0), a draw with Senegal (1-1), and a 3-0 victory over Botswana.
