On Monday, Morocco witnessed tragic news as a military Alphajet aircraft belonging to the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) crashed near Fes Saiss Airport.
Videos have documented smoke rising into the skies over remote areas near the airport.
Converging reports said the crash resulted in the deaths of two soldiers on board.
According to Initial data, the accident took place as the plane was about to take off on a routine training mission. It lost balance and crashed onto the runway.
Reports said security authorities imposed a strict security cordon and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.
The crash came a few months after a similar accident took place in April near the Fez-Saiss airport.
The case dates back to when an aircraft deviated from the runway during landing, injuring three crew members.
The crash did not cause any fatalities.
The situation, however, caused panic and concern among residents in the area.
Civil protection services said that the plane was unable to stay on course at the end of the runway, leading to the accident.
The small private plane, an H25B model, suffered significant damage as it went off the landing strip.
