ANRE Morocco Head Inaugurates 4th MEDREG Presidents’ Workshop in Sicily

Head of the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ANRE), Abdellatif Bardach, in his capacity as president of the Association of Mediterranean Energy Regulators, MEDREG, inaugurated the 4th session of the MEDREG Presidents’ Workshop  at the historic site of Selinunte (Sicily) in Italy.

According to a press release from ANRE, Bardach inaugurated, alongside the Italian host Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, and the Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water, Walid Fayad, the event which saw the participation of high-level governmental representatives, parliamentarians, transmission network operators and the private sector.

Discussions focused on improving  energy infrastructure and integrating energy systems across the region, exploring innovations such as smart grids, electric mobility and the development of green hydrogen, adds the press release.

The leadership of the Kingdom of Morocco was particularly highlighted during the discussions, underlining the “strategic vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, who has launched and promoted a vision of Mediterranean unity focused on cross-border cooperation and sustainable energy solutions,” notes the same source.

Speaking on this occasion, Bardach emphasized the strategic importance of regional cooperation, noting that Morocco’s geostrategic position places it at the crossroads of essential energy exchanges.

“By synchronizing our efforts, we can overcome current challenges and shape a sustainable energy  future for the Mediterranean and beyond,” he added.

On this occasion, the Mediterranean Energy Regulatory Authorities have solidified their joint commitment to the energy transition to ensure supply security and sustainability for the future, concludes the press release.
