Arab ministers of culture have expressed in a joint statement their appreciation for the efforts led by Morocco to support the Palestinian cause.
The final communique after the 24th session of the Conference of Ministers Responsible for Cultural Affairs in the Arab World conveyed the minister’s satisfaction with King Mohammed VI’s efforts as the chair of the Al Quds Committee to protect and strengthen the cultural identity and civilizational heritage of the holy city.
Morocco’s contribution to the agency amounted to $7 million in 2024, and Moroccan people contributed about $700,000 to the agency, reflecting the country’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.
The ministers also called on the Arab Organization for Education, Culture, and Science to develop an urgent intervention plan that defines the need to reinforce the civilizational identity and preserve the cultural heritage in addition to uploading the dignity of the people of Jerusalem and their resistance support.
They also extended the call for the Palestinian Ministry of Culture and the Bayt Mal Al Quds agency, emphasizing the need to establish a plan to coordinate the efforts of all stakeholders to identify the necessary areas of intervention.
Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Morocco’s Minister of Culture chaired the 24th session, which concluded with the adoption of a Moroccan-led proposal to create an Arab Forum for Cultural and Creative Industries.
The session also proposed the creation of an Arab group to negotiate with international companies to combat fake news and the risks of radicalization and separatism in th digital space.
