On the eve of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency launched its annual social assistance campaign on Saturday. The Agency operates under the Al-Quds committee, which is chaired by HM King Mohammed VI.
This year’s program provides for the distribution of 5,000 food baskets to underprivileged Palestinian families in the holy city and villages of the Al-Quds Governorate, as well as 20,000 daily Iftar meals at several social centers.
It also includes the distribution of Eid Al-Fitr clothing to 500 orphans supported by the Agency, the organization of medical campaigns and religious activities, and training sessions for Palestinian associations in marketing skills development and human development projects.
In this context, the Agency’s Managing Director Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui launched the “Moroccan Handicrafts Training Week,” held the headquarters of the Foundation “Al-Aliyah” in Beit Hanina, as part of the Agency’s “Community Initiatives for Human Development.”
The training week is supervised by a select group of Moroccan artisans specializing in weaving, wood carving, and silver jewelry, and aims to pass on Morocco’s ancestral craftsmanship to artisans in Al-Quds.
The program also includes practical workshops and theoretical sessions focused on product development and improving quality standards in handicrafts.
The initiative will enable artisans in Al-Quds to acquire qualitative skills, enhancing the competitiveness of their products, creating sustainable income sources for the Al-Quds families, and opening networking prospects with Moroccan artisans to benefit from successful experiences in promoting cultural heritage.
Through these actions, the BMAQ Agency continues to implement the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, with the aim of serving the Holy City, strengthening the capacities of its inhabitants, and consolidating their resilience by mobilizing and optimizing all available material resources in support of human development programs in Al-Quds.
