The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency presented Wednesday, at the Ramallah university campus, its program to support the education sector in Al-Quds for the year 2026, as well as the system for managing university scholarships and scientific research grants, attended by partners and beneficiary students.
On this occasion, president of the Modern University Faculty Samer Shyoukhi highlighted the strong partnership with this institution and its “pioneering role in supporting the resilience of Palestinians, particularly in the city of Al-Quds,” emphasizing that the Agency embodies “the commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to Al-Quds and its inhabitants.”
Shyoukhi noted that the support provided by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency to Palestinian higher education institutions, particularly those welcoming students from Al-Quds, comes “at a difficult time for these institutions,” noting that this support, both material and moral, “directly contributes to strengthening their resilience and ensuring their continuity.”
For his part, secretary general of the Al-Quds National People’s Congress Bilal Naticha affirmed that “the ongoing efforts to support students and institutions in Al-Quds are at the heart of the partnership between the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency and the National People’s Congress, with a view to reinforcing the resilience of the holy city and its inhabitants in the current difficult conditions.”
“The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency and the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, are sparing no effort to support Al-Quds populations in various sectors, foremost among which are education, health, and support for associations and institutions working within Al-Quds,” Naticha said.
In turn, managing director of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui underlined that support for education in Al-Quds and Palestine is a strategic priority for the Agency, based on the deep belief that education remains the lever for development and social advancement, and one of the most important tools for safeguarding the Palestinian Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity.
Cherkaoui also emphasized that the Agency’s investments in constructing new schools, rehabilitating existing establishments and providing classrooms “have contributed to improving the educational environment in Al-Quds,” highlighting “the need to continue and extend this support to include improving conditions for teachers, protecting school curricula, and using technology and digital solutions to support the educational process.”
Director of Education and Teaching in Al-Quds Samir Jibril, who was honored by the Agency on this occasion, said that “the institution plays a central and long-term role in supporting education in the city of Al-Quds,” adding that its achievements on the ground have created “true bulwarks of education in the heart of the city, through the construction, rehabilitation, and development of several schools in the Old City and in different neighborhoods of Al-Quds.”
The meeting featured the presentation of the Agency’s action program to support the education sector in Al-Quds, as well as the university scholarship and scientific research grant system, being the mechanism for receiving applications from individuals wishing to benefit from the Agency’s scholarships in all categories.
This mechanism is based on criteria of transparency and equal opportunity, and helps accurately determine the degree of need of students applying for scholarships, based on clear economic and social indicators, without human intervention, thereby reinforcing fairness and integrity in decision-making and the distribution of aid.
