Morocco star Brahim Díaz continued his standout AFCON performance on Sunday by scoring the only goal in the Atlas Lions’ 1–0 win over Tanzania, sending them into the quarter-finals.
His beautiful strike, netted in the 64th minute at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, was enough to decide the match and secure Morocco’s place in the last eight.

The goal was Díaz’s fourth of the tournament in four matches, making him the first Moroccan player in AFCON history to score in four consecutive games in a single edition. This achievement broke a long-standing national record previously held by Moroccan legend Ahmed Faras.

Speaking after Morocco’s win, the Real Madrid midfielder stressed that qualification matters more than individual achievements, saying, “I’m really happy to score goals in every game, but the most important thing is to be in the quarter-finals.”

Díaz’s decisive strike came from a well-worked move, with fullback Achraf Hakimi providing the assist before the Real Madrid midfielder finished from a tight angle. The win keeps Morocco’s title hopes alive and proves how important Díaz is to the team’s attacking threat.

Brahim Díaz’s four goals have propelled him to the top of the tournament’s scoring charts, moving him clear of his teammates and rival attackers.

Earlier in the competition, Díaz had already been influential in Morocco’s group-stage campaign, scoring in each of their three group matches as they finished top of Group A and qualified for the Round of 16.
Morocco now prepares for their quarter-final match, and Díaz’s record-breaking performance positioned him as a strong contender for the Golden Boot of AFCON 2025.
