The Brazilian portal Brasilturis spotlighted Morocco’s thriving tourism sector on Thursday, emphasizing record-breaking performance and the growing role of tourism in the Kingdom’s economic strategy.
“Morocco began 2026 by celebrating a historic milestone in international tourism,” the specialized outlet wrote, noting that Morocco closed 2025 with 19.8 million visitors, up 14% compared to 2024, bringing the country for the first time close to the 20 million annual tourist mark.
According to Brasilturis, this achievement cements Morocco’s position as Africa’s top tourist destination, ahead of Egypt, and ranks the Kingdom among the world’s fastest-growing tourism markets.
Beyond the numbers, the portal highlighted a structural transformation of the tourism sector, now fully integrated into national economic strategy.
Over recent years, tourism has become a central driver of development, supported by continuous investments in air connectivity, hospitality infrastructure, domestic mobility, and diversification of the tourism offering.
Between January and November 2025, Morocco’s tourism revenues reached 124 billion dirhams (around $12 billion), up 19% compared to the same period the previous year, Brasilturis noted.
The growth is attributed to a national plan focusing on expanding the air network, increasing accommodation capacity, improving service quality, and promoting regional investments with a long-term vision.
The outlet also highlighted the strategic role of Royal Air Maroc as a key player in this momentum, particularly through strengthened flight connections to priority source markets.
In this context, Brasilturis underscored the growing importance of Brazil within Morocco’s tourism strategy. Seeking alternatives to traditional European routes, Brazilian travelers are increasingly attracted to authentic cultural experiences and improved air connectivity, positioning Morocco as a natural gateway to North Africa.
Currently, Royal Air Maroc operates four weekly flights from São Paulo and connects Morocco to over 90 destinations in more than 50 countries, facilitating the integration of the Kingdom into international travel itineraries.
