President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Patrice Motsepe stated on Thursday in Salé that the governing body of African football is fully committed to promoting football on the continent.

“CAF has a deep desire and commitment to work with all its members to develop and advance football in Africa, Motsepe stated during a press conference held at the Mohammed VI Football Complex.

Highlighting the significant progress achieved in African football, Motsepe emphasized the improvement in CAF’s financial situation, the result of all member federations’ joint efforts.

He also stated that Morocco organized the most successful Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in history by all standards, noting that the Kingdom set the bar very high, whether in terms of sports infrastructure, logistics, security, or hospitality.

“African countries must draw inspiration from the level of organization achieved by Morocco during CAF competitions,” he added, praising the Kingdom’s commitment as well as the contributions of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation to the development of African football.

Referring to the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for 2027, he noted that CAF will work closely with the three host countries (Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania) to ensure a successful tournament.

Furthermore, Motsepe highlighted the progress made in the area of refereeing, thanks in particular to a partnership with FIFA aimed at bolstering African referees’ skills to world-class standards.

He also noted that rules must continue to evolve to keep pace with the dynamic development of African football.
