Morocco has been shortlisted in all the women’s categories for the CAF Awards 2024, published Wednesday on the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) website.
AS FAR striker Sanaa Mssoudy is in the running for the title of Woman’s Player of the Year, while team-mate Khadija Er-Rmichi is among the contenders for the title of Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year.
The two national team players were also nominated for the Interclub player of the year award, alongside their teammate at the Doha El Madani military club. The latter also sits alongside other contenders on the Women’s Young Player of the Year list, including her compatriot Lina Mokhtar Jamai, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain.
The list of nominees for Coach of the Year includes two Moroccans: Mohamed Amine Alioua, finalist in the last Women’s Champions League with AS FAR, and Lamia Boumehdi, who led Congolese outfit TP Mazembe to the title for the first time in their history.
The Moroccan team and AS FAR are vying for the titles of Women’s National Team of the Year and Club of the Year respectively.
The CAF Awards 2024 span the period from January to October of the same year. The ceremony is scheduled for December 16 in Marrakech.
Winners in each category will be decided by votes cast by the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, head coaches and captains of member associations, as well as clubs taking part in the group stages of interclub competitions.
