In anticipation of the upcoming Eid Al-Adha festivities, Morocco’s central bank, Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM), has implemented preemptive measures to guarantee the availability of cash at ATMs across all regions of the Kingdom. The move aims to accommodate the heightened demand for cash during the extended weekend celebration.
In a press release issued on Thursday, BAM highlighted the proactive steps taken in collaboration with commercial banks to secure sufficient funds at ATMs. “Considering the high demand for cash during Eid Al-Adha festivity, which will be celebrated this year over an extended weekend, Bank Al-Maghrib took preventive measures, in consultation with banks, to ensure the availability of funds in ATMs across all prefectures and provinces of the Kingdom.”
The central bank’s initiatives primarily involve ensuring that banks are adequately supplied with banknotes to meet the anticipated surge in cash withdrawals. Furthermore, BAM has coordinated closely with financial institutions to enhance the reliability of ATMs both technically and in terms of cash availability.
To oversee the smooth implementation of these measures, the Moroccan central bank has established an internal unit dedicated to monitoring the supply of ATMs and addressing any potential issues promptly.
