Significant resources have been mobilized to assist populations affected by the cold wave in 28 prefectures and provinces, covering 243 municipalities and 2,018 localities and douars.
According to data from the Ministry of the Interior, 1,482 localities-representing 73.4% of the total- are located at altitudes between 1,500 and 2,499 meters, while 29 localities (1.4%) are situated at altitudes above 2,500 meters.
In this context, monitoring and support are being provided for vulnerable groups, notably 665 homeless people, 2,790 pregnant women, and 18,722 elderly persons.
Regarding the resources mobilized, it is planned to distribute approximately 4,540 tons of firewood and 10,421 improved stoves, in coordination with the National Agency for Water and Forests, as well as with the Ministries of National Education, Preschool Education and Sports, and of Health and Social Protection.
Furthermore, 1,024 snow-clearing machines have been mobilized, in coordination with the Ministry of Equipment and Water, and pre-positioned along exposed roadways to ensure rapid intervention and prevent any potential isolation.
