President of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS) Khalihenna Ould Errachid received a delegation from the Italian parliamentary intergroup “Support for the Autonomy Initiative in the Sahara” in Rabat on Monday.
In a statement to the press following the meeting, the coordinator of the Italian delegation, Ettore Rosato, said that the Italian parliamentary intergroup strongly believes that Morocco’s autonomy plan is the most reliable, practical, and realistic solution to resolve this dispute.
“Our group considers that the plan proposed by Morocco, which will be discussed at the United Nations, is the only solution capable of granting peace, stability and growth,” Rosato emphasized.
He also noted that during talks with the CORCAS president, the delegation learned about the historical context and developments in the Moroccan Sahara issue.
The delegation visited Morocco’s Southern provinces, where it was able to witness firsthand the progress achieved and learn about all launched and finished projects, he pointed out.
Currently on a working visit to the Kingdom, the Italian parliamentary intergroup delegation includes seven members of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, representing both the majority and opposition parties.
