The First President of the Court of Cassation, Deputy President of the Supreme Council of Judicial Power (CSPJ) and President of the Association of Supreme Courts of French-Speaking Countries (AHJUCAF), Mohamed Abdennabaoui, chaired the Association’s Bureau meeting on Thursday at the Court of Cassation headquarters in Paris.

This meeting, the first since Abdennabaoui’s election as president of the AHJUCAF at its congress held on July 2-4 in Rabat, was an opportunity to present the Association’s activity reports for the current year and to define its work program for 2026, according to a press release from the CSPJ.

The Bureau focused on coordination mechanisms for the exchange and dissemination of case law in the Francophone world, as well as on the organization of training courses and workshops to study case law in areas of common interest, the same source emphasized, adding that on this occasion it was decided to adopt a program rich in judicial and legal activities for 2026, aimed at increasing the publishing the decisions of courts of cassation and supreme courts affiliated with the Association on its official website.

This program also includes organizing workshops on alternatives to imprisonment in member states that use them, as well as training workshops on international judicial cooperation procedures in the fight against corruption and the judicial protection of fundamental rights in times of crisis. The Bureau then convened to hold a seminar on supreme courts and artificial intelligence in Morocco.

The Association of Supreme Courts of French-Speaking Countries brings together 49 supreme courts and works to promote cooperation, solidarity, and the exchange of expertise among its members. It strives to foster mutual assistance, solidarity, cooperation, and the exchange of ideas and experiences among member judicial institutions on matters within their jurisdiction or of interest to their organization and functioning; promoting the role of supreme courts in consolidating the rule of law, strengthening legal certainty, regulating judicial decisions, and harmonizing law within member states.

In addition to its president, the bureau is composed of presidents or members of supreme courts of France, Benin, Lebanon, Senegal, Switzerland, Canada, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
