Eid Al Fitr: Royal Pardon for 1,201 People

On the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, granted His pardon to 1,201 people, sentenced by the different Moroccan courts, the Justice Ministry said in a statement.

Here follows the full statement:

“On the occasion of Eid Al Fitr for the year 1447 H – 2026 G, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God perpetuate His glory, has kindly granted His pardon to a number of individuals convicted by various courts throughout the Kingdom. The beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon number 1,182 and are distributed as follows:

The beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon who are currently in detention are 1,063 and are divided as follows:

– 17 inmates were pardoned from their remaining prison sentence.

– 1,045  inmates had their prison terms reduced.

– 1 inmate had their prison sentences commuted from life sentence to fixed prison term.

The beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon who are not in detention number 119 and are distributed as follows:

– 43 individuals benefited from pardon over their prison term or its remainder.

– 7 individuals had their prison terms pardoned and their fines maintained.

– 60 individuals had their fines annulled.

– 9 individuals had both their prison terms pardoned and their fines annulled.

On this happy occasion, His Majesty the King, may God preserve Him, has kindly granted His Pardon to detainees convicted in cases of extremism and terrorism, who received the Royal Approval after formally expressing their commitment to the constants and sacred values of the Nation and its institutions, revising their ideological orientations, and renouncing extremism and terrorism. They number 19 individuals, distributed as follows:

– 4 inmates benefited from the pardon over their remaining prison sentences.

– 15 inmates had their prison terms reduced.

May God preserve His Majesty the King, source of clemency and mercy, perpetuate His glory, and safeguard His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan as well as all members of the Royal Family.”
