Equatorial Guinea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Simeon Oyono Angue, hailed on Monday in Nice the “decisive role” played by Morocco in protecting the African ocean, under His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s leadership.
Angue, who took part in the “Africa for the Ocean” summit—organized as part of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) and co-chaired by Morocco and France—expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Sovereign for the organization of this summit of “great significance.”
“We are aware that the ocean is a valuable asset for all countries and that it is essential to preserve it. Morocco plays a crucial role in protecting the oceans of the African continent,” he told MAP.
Highlighting the many initiatives launched by Morocco in support of Africa under the impetus of His Majesty the King, under His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s leadership, Equatorial Guinea’s top diplomat stressed that the Kingdom “embodies a true model of South-South cooperation.”
In this regard, he expressed his country’s gratitude to Morocco and to His Majesty the King for this initiative in favor of the African continent, “offering a concrete example of South-South cooperation.”
“We have only one ocean and one planet, and we must preserve them for the well-being of today’s populations and future generations,” Angue concluded.
The “Africa for the Ocean” summit, co-chaired by HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, Representative of His Majesty the King, and French President Emmanuel Macron, was held as part of the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), which continues in Nice through June 13.
