The Euromed University of Fez has launched a major step in constructing its future University Hospital Center (CHU), set to become Morocco’s first “smart hospital.”
The architectural design of the facility has been awarded to the consortium “Atelier d’architecture El Ouali et Hajji at associés,” known for their work on major healthcare institutions such as the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Tangier and the Regional Hospital Center in Kenitra.
Planned on a 30-hectare site, the CHU Euromed will be built from the ground up with advanced medical technologies at its core. The hospital will integrate artificial intelligence, connected medical devices, big data analytics, real-time monitoring, robotics, and human-machine collaboration (cobotics) into its clinical and administrative processes.
In its first phase, the hospital will open with 350 beds, significantly expanding healthcare services in the region and introducing new medical specialties that are currently unavailable locally or nationally. The hospital will also work in close collaboration with the existing CHU Hassan II of Fez.
The CHU will serve three strategic missions: providing top-level training in health disciplines, enhancing tertiary care services, and advancing medical research and innovation.
The hospital will host students from various fields including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and biomedical engineering, supported by digital platforms for training, simulation, and international scientific collaboration.
Several centers of excellence are planned to address national and regional health priorities.
These include personalized and precision medicine, care for emerging diseases, reconstructive surgery, oncohematology, sports medicine, forensic medicine and criminology, trauma treatment through a dedicated trauma center, specialized burn units, and advanced disciplines such as cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, robotic and minimally invasive surgery, and interventional radiology and endoscopy.
The integration of artificial intelligence in diagnostics and treatment will be a key differentiator and innovation driver of the hospital.
More than just a hospital, the CHU Euromed de Fès is a large-scale, strategic project at the crossroads of healthcare, higher education, scientific research, and technological innovation—fully aligned with Morocco’s long-term national ambitions.
Developed in close coordination with Morocco’s Ministry of Health, the project aligns with international standards in medical technology and environmental sustainability, promising a new era of healthcare and education in Morocco.
