Ways to strengthen the contribution of Moroccans living abroad to the Kingdom’s economic development were the focus of an economic meeting held on Friday in Barcelona, as part of the 11th stop in the cycle initiated by the Moroccans of the World Awards (TMM) Foundation.

Organized under the theme “Moroccans of the World: Strategic Sectors for Investing in Morocco,” this meeting aims to inform Moroccan expatriates about investment opportunities, raise awareness of the support mechanisms available, and encourage the mobilization of Moroccan expertise established in Catalonia and across Spain.

Speaking at the event, Ali Mehrez, Senior Manager in charge of strategic partnerships at the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE), emphasized that investment opportunities in Morocco cover a wide range of sectors, from tourism to services and industry.

For his part, Mohamed Chaib, president of the Ibn Battouta Foundation, welcomed the stopover, recalling that the challenge is not only to invite Moroccans living abroad to invest, but also to clearly explain to them “in which sectors to invest, how to proceed, and what support tools are available.”

The Consul General of Morocco in Barcelona, Nezha Attahar, highlighted the guidelines expressed by HM King Mohammed VI in His Speeches on August 20, 2022, and November 6, 2024, which call for fully valuing the contribution of Moroccans living abroad to national development, beyond financial transfers.
