The High Commissioner for Planning, Ahmed Lahlimi Alami, said Thursday in Dakhla that global mobilization is a guarantee of success for the General Census of Population and Housing (RGPH-2024), which will take place from September 1.
“All the conditions are in place to ensure the success of this national operation, which is carried out in Morocco every 10 years, in application of the royal instructions contained in the letter addressed by HM King Mohammed VI to the Head of Government,” stressed Lahlimi at a meeting held as part of a tour that began in Dakhla before travelling to the Kingdom’s various regions, with the aim of shedding light on the progress of this census operation.
Lahlimi pointed out that the General Census of Population and Housing is considered a benchmark that should provide information capable of determining growth potential.
Because of its inclusive nature, the Census will make it possible to determine the situation of each individual residing in the Kingdom, his or her living conditions, in addition to the country’s situation under various aspects and at all levels.
Lahlimi noted, in this sense, that the preparatory cartographic work is of capital importance for the realization of this Consus, the 7th of its kind, mentioning the adoption of an integrated information system which has enabled updating the content of digital maps and realizing a cartography, one for constructions and the other for economic establishments using a mobile geographic information system (mobile GIS) coupled with very high resolution satellite images.
