Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch chaired Wednesday in Rabat a working meeting to present the strategic plan of the National Company for the Construction and Management of Sports Facilities (SONARGES) and to examine the progress of the company’s structural projects to upgrade national sports infrastructure.
At the onset of the meeting, attended by Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports Saad Berrada, SONARGES Chairman Youssef Belqasmi presented the company’s strategic plan based on capitalizing on achievements and enhancing human capital, while ensuring strengthening the company’s presence across the Kingdom through the development of new services for the population, according to a press release from the Office of the Head of Government.
Belqasmi also highlighted the progress achieved in upgrading stadiums in preparation for the 2025 African Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup, emphasizing the governance model adopted and the technical, administrative, and financial monitoring mechanisms put in place to ensure the optimum implementation of these projects.
He also spoke of the ongoing coordination between SONARGES, all relevant ministerial departments, and institutional and sports partners.
On this occasion, Akhannouch recalled the great care His Majesty King Mohammed VI has demonstrated for the sports sector by mobilizing the necessary resources to build infrastructure and install sports equipment in different regions of the Kingdom.
He then urged SONARGES to step up its efforts through the implementation of this strategic plan, to give new impetus to national sports infrastructure and make it a contributing factor to integrated territorial development.
Created in 2008, SONARGES manages over 78 sports facilities in six Moroccan regions.
