The minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tehraoui, held, on Saturday in Tokyo, a series of meetings with peers and officials from several countries, focused on bolstering partnerships and the exchange of expertise in the field of healthcare, on the sidelines of the 2025 Universal Health Coverage (UHC) High-Level Forum.
Thus, Tehraoui held talks with Indonesian minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, on exchanging expertise in UHC implementation, mainly strategies aimed at integrating the informal sector, boosting enrollment of the population and ensuring the financial sustainability of UHC related reforms.
The two ministers discussed healthcare cost regulation measures and the optimization of the private sector partnership, expressing their determination to deepen their technical cooperation in these priority areas.
Tehraoui also held talks with Jean Kaseya, Director General at Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), the African Union’s (AU) public health agency.
The meeting discussed Morocco’s contribution to strengthening African health sovereignty, as well Africa CDC’s strategic priorities in terms of preparedness, response, and health governance.
The two sides welcomed the quality of their partnership and elected to bolster their coordination on flagship continental initiatives.
During a meeting with Mexico’s Deputy Minister for Sectoral Integration and Coordination of Medical Care, Eduardo Clark García Dobarganes, the talks focused on the exchange of experience on pharmaceutical development, centralized procurement processes, and the digitization of health services.
Tehraoui and Dobarganes emphasized the convergence of their priorities and the value of technical exchanges, committing to upkeep dialogue and share their respective experiences.
