Heatwave, Thunderstorms Expected From Monday to Friday in Several Moroccan Provinces – Alert Bulletin

A heatwave along with thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong gusts of wind are expected from Monday to Friday in several provinces of the Kingdom, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) said in an orange-level alert bulletin.

Accordingly, temperatures ranging between 40 and 44°C are forecast for Monday in the provinces of Tata, Zagora, Khouribga, Ouezzane, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknes, El Hajeb, Fez, Sefrou, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, and Taza.

The same weather phenomenon will affect, on Tuesday and Wednesday, the provinces of Taza, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Ouezzane, Rehamna, Beni Mellal, Meknes, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, Marrakech, Khémisset, Youssoufia, Taounate, and Taroudant, with temperatures also ranging from 40 to 44°C.

An intensification of the heat is also expected from Tuesday through Friday, with temperatures fluctuating between 44 and 47°C in the provinces of Tata, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, and Aousserd.

Furthermore, thunderstorms accompanied by hail and gusts of wind are forecast on Monday from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the provinces of Errachidia, Figuig, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Boulemane, Midelt, Khénifra, and Ifrane, with expected rainfall amounts ranging from 15 to 25 mm.
