Heavy rain, snowfall, and strong gusts of wind are expected on Friday and Saturday in several provinces of the Kingdom, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) announced.
Severe rainfall, mainly in mountainous areas (80-120 mm), is expected from Friday at 5 p.m. to Saturday at 11 p.m. in the provinces of Agadir Ida-Outanane, Taroudant, and Essaouira, according to the DGM in a red alert report.
Similarly, heavy rains (30-45 mm) will be observed from Friday at 5 p.m. to Saturday at 6 p.m. in the provinces of Safi, Sidi Bennour, El Jadida, Chtouka Ait Baha, Inezegane, Ait Melloul, Tiznit, Chichaoua, Al Haouz, and Youssoufia, according to an orange alert report issued by the DGM.
The same phenomenon, with rainfall totals varying between 25 and 35 mm, will affect the provinces of Rehamna, Settat, and Marrakech on Saturday from midnight to 10 a.m.
In addition, snowfall above 1,600 meters (20-50 cm) will affect the provinces of Midelt, Tinghir, Azilal, Ouarzazate, Al Haouz, Taroudant, and Chichaoua from Friday at 9 p.m. to Saturday at 6 p.m.
In addition, strong gusts of wind ranging from 95 to 105 km/h are expected on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to Saturday at 12 p.m. in the provinces of Al Haouz and Chichaoua, from 90 to 100 km/h in the provinces of El Jadida, Sidi Bennour, Safi, Essaouira, Midelt, and Azilal, and from 75 to 90 km/h in Youssoufia, Figuig, Jerada, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Kelaa Sraghna, Marrakech, Rehamna, Agadir Ida Outanane, Taroudant, Boulemane, Guercif, and Berkane.
Finally, strong gusts of wind (75 to 90 km/h) are expected from Friday at 9 p.m. to Saturday at 6 a.m. in the provinces of Rabat, Skhirate-Témara, Nouaceur, Casablanca, Médiouna, Berrechid, Mohammédia, Benslimane, and Settat, and on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the provinces of El Jadida, Sidi Bennour, Safi, Essaouira, Chichaoua, Berrechid, Al Haouz, Figuig, and Ouarzazate, concludes the alert report.
