Heavy rainfall, snowfall above 1,500 m and cold weather are expected from Wednesday to Saturday in several provinces of the Kingdom, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
Strong rains, stormy at times (30-50mm) are forecast from Wednesday at 1 p.m. to Thursday 12 a.m. in the provinces of Azilal, Beni Mellal, Al Haouz, Khenifra and Kelaa Sraghna, the DGM states in a “orange” level weather alert.
Similarly, 20-30mm of rainfall will affect provinces of Settat, Mohammedia, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Sidi Ifni, Taroudant, Tiznit, Kenitra, Sidi Slimane, Nouaceur, Benslimane, Khemisset, Berrechid, Rabat, Midelt, Rehamna, Casablanca, Mediouna, Essaouira, Fquih Ben Salah, Youssoufia, Sidi Bennour, Safi, El Jadida, Chichaoua, Skhirat-Temara and Salé.
Additionally, snowfall (20-40cm) above 1,500m altitudes are expected Wednesday at 1 p.m. until Thursday at 6 p.m. in the provinces of Midelt, Boulemane, Sefrou, Ifrane, Al Haouz, Azilal and Ouarzazate, the DGM notes.
As such, 7-20cm of snow is forecast during the same period in Al Hoceima, Taza, Taroudant, Chichaoua, Beni Mellal, Guercif and Tinghir.
Cold spell (-7/-3 °C) is awaited from Thursday to Saturday in the provinces Midelt, Boulemane, Tinghir, Azilal, Chichaoua, Ouarzazate, Al Haouz, Taroudant and Ifrane, the alert adds.
