Morocco is set to make history by hosting the first-ever Africa and Middle East Space Conference (AMESC 2025) between February 5-8.
The event will represent a significant milestone in developing the region’s space sector. This groundbreaking forum, organized by the Moroccan Initiative for Space Industry (MISI), will take place at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University UM6P Conference Center in Rabat.
The conference has garnered impressive support from key stakeholders, including the Moroccan Aerospace Cluster (AMC), ICESCO, the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the US Embassy in Morocco.
It aims to focus on the vast potential of the space sector in driving sustainable development across the MENA region and throughout Africa.
Leading global space organizations are to attend the prestigious event, including NASA, the European Space Agency, and space agencies from Portugal and Italy.
Emerging regional players will also have the opportunity to take part, including the Egyptian Space Agency, Azerbaijani Azercosmos, and the Kenya Space Agency.
Taking part in the conference, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) will provide insights into global space policy and international cooperation.
Former American astronaut Dorothy Metcalf-Lindenburger will be a special guest at the event and is expected to share her unique experiences aboard the International Space Station to inspire the next generation of space explorers in the region.
The event will also provide a platform to focus on advanced research from prestigious institutions like Arizona State University’s Melo Institute and Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute.
The conference’s international scope extends beyond regional boundaries, with delegations from China, South Korea, and Latin America, including the Brazilian Space Agency. Their participation positions AMESC 2025 as a leading global platform for space sector collaboration.
This pioneering conference represents a crucial step in bridging the gap between developing and developed nations in space technology, while accelerating the application of space technologies for economic and social development in Africa and the Middle East.
