As Morocco’s meteorological authority issued alerts warning of severe weather, the Ministry of the Interior has urged citizens to exercise caution and take all necessary preventive measures.
The forecast points to unstable conditions marked by heavy rainfall, localized thundershowers, snowfall at higher elevations, and strong winds affecting several regions of the Kingdom.
In a statement, the Ministry warned against taking risks, particularly by attempting to cross flood-prone roads, valleys or plains that may be exposed to flash floods.
It also advised against all behavior likely to endanger people or property, stressing the need for full compliance with instructions issued by public authorities. Travel and non-essential commutes are also strongly discouraged, namely in the areas concerned with these weather disturbances.
The Ministry emphasized that local authorities have already taken a series of proactive measures to mitigate the potential effects of these conditions, including on-the-ground interventions such as cleaning and maintaining sewerage and drainage systems, and addressing identified flood-prone black spots.
The said measures also involve the mobilization of human and logistical resources, with all available capacities placed on maximum readiness state to ensure rapid response and the provision of assistance when needed.
