The Republic of Kenya’s Minister of Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Ali Johoon, commended, on Friday, the Kingdom of Morocco’s achievements in the transformation and modernization of its mineral resource management.
Speaking to the press following a meeting with Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, Joho stated that Kenya particularly appreciates Morocco’s strategy. This approach, he noted, is based on developing value chains to avoid exporting raw minerals, instead favoring their integration into industrialization processes. He hailed this strategy as a means to create employment, generate wealth, and support the industrialization of economies.
In this context, the Kenyan Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with Morocco, noting that the meeting was part of a broader reflection on the future of mineral resources, particularly critical minerals, and prospects for collaboration between the two countries.
Joho reiterated Kenya’s commitment to working closely with Morocco to ensure optimal valorization of mining resources, expressing confidence in the continuation of this cooperation dynamic.
For her part, Benali said the meeting provided a further opportunity to consolidate the close relations between Morocco and Kenya, which have been strengthened in recent years. She specified that it was also an opportune moment to deepen cooperation in several areas, notably the mining sector, which is currently booming in Morocco.
Furthermore, she highlighted the significance of the Kingdom’s mineral wealth and resources, as well as its solid institutional framework, investor-friendly regulations, and strong commitment to sustainability.
