Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud affirmed in Mecca on Wednesday his country’s determination to bolster cooperation with Morocco across all areas, propelling it toward broader horizons.

Speaking at the 14th session of the Saudi-Moroccan Joint Committee, the Saudi minister highlighted the deep fraternal and historical ties between the two countries and their peoples.

He also underscored both Kingdoms’s potential and emphasized the importance of leveraging it optimally to serve their common interests.

Saudi foreign minister stressed that this meeting elevates bilateral cooperation to a higher level and reflects a tangible alignment between the two countries on various Arab and Islamic issues of common interest.

For his part, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita stressed Morocco’s commitment to enhancing all means that can foster, diversify, and elevate cooperation between the two countries, ensuring it reaches new heights.

Bourita also extended his congratulations to Saudi Arabia for the progress and achievements it has made at various levels, noting that next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Joint Committee.

He emphasized that this milestone would provide an opportunity to assess bilateral relations and explore ways to further develop and strengthen them.

He further stressed the importance of continuing support for the Morocco-Saudi Arabia Joint Commission and for ongoing coordination between the two parties to enhance its effectiveness as an institutional tool that frames their work across various fields.

Bourita also underlined the need to follow up on implementing the agreed-upon recommendations by both parties.

Furthermore, he expressed his satisfaction with the positive outcomes of the previous session, which would enhance bilateral cooperation in all areas and push their relations toward broader horizons.

Morocco’s foreign minister underscored that promoting this partnership stands to benefit greatly from the dynamic exchange of visits between businesspeople from both nations.

He also highlighted that the African continent and the organization of the World Cup represent two vital areas for economic cooperation and investment between the two Kingdoms.

Morocco’s foreign minister urged to update the legal framework governing the two countries’ relations to keep pace with the current developments.

At the end of the meeting, Morocco and Saudi Arabia signed two cooperation agreements in the fields of customs and environmental protection.

These agreements were signed by Mustafa Al-Mansouri, Morocco’s Ambassador to Riyadh, and Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Sadhan from the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.

Under the terms of the customs agreement, both parties recognize each other’s authorized economic operator program, which would help facilitate customs procedures at the borders.

The second agreement aims to establish a framework for cooperation between the two parties in the fields of environmental protection, including environmental governance, adaptation to climate change, monitoring, assessment, and management of waste, circular economy, and biodiversity protection.
