Liberia’s Vice President, Jeremiah Koung conveyed his country’s “deep gratitude” for His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s commitment to the preservation of the oceans.
The Royal message delivered at the “Africa for the Ocean” summit contains “inspiring words,” he told MAP. “We are thankful for the Sovereign’s commitment to protecting our oceans.”
Koung also welcomed the “long-standing partnership” between Liberia and Morocco, noting that the Kingdom “has long worked alongside us for the mutual development of our two countries.”
The “Africa for the Ocean” summit, co-chaired by HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, Representative of His Majesty the King, and French President Emmanuel Macron, was held as part of the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), which continues in Nice until June 13.
The summit aims to develop concrete, regionally driven solutions for marine governance, sustainable management of fishery resources, improved connectivity between coastal and landlocked states, and the financing of modern, resilient infrastructure capable of making the ocean a driver of sustainable development for Africa.
