Deputy Speaker of Morocco’s House of Representatives, Mohamed Ghayate, held talks on Wednesday in Rabat, with the President of the Andean Parliament, Gustavo Adolfo Pacheco Villar, currently leading a high-level parliamentary delegation on a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.
During the meeting, Ghayate expressed thanks and appreciation for the consistent support of the Andean Parliament towards the territorial integrity of the Kingdom. He also commended the depth of relations uniting the Moroccan and Andean Parliaments and noted that the House of Representatives seeks to reinforce and advance them.
Ghayate also underscored the prominent position the Kingdom of Morocco holds at the international level under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, as His Majesty has always advocated for strengthening South-South cooperation, promoting solidarity and cooperation, and serving the shared interests.
For his part, Pacheco Villar reiterated the support of the Andean Parliament to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom. In the same regard, he praised the significant developmental progress made by the Kingdom in several fields.
He also shed light on the shared challenges that necessitate close cooperation and coordination between the two legislative institutions, noting, among others, the issues of security, migration, energy, climate change, AI.
The members of the delegation of the Andean Parliament expressed their admiration of the great development the Kingdom of Morocco witnesses at the economic level and the main projects it is conducting in infrastructure and transports.
In addition to Pacheco Villar, the delegation of the Andean Parliament includes Sara Kattya Condori, Manuel José Ossandón, and Oscar Darío Pérez.
The Moroccan Parliament is an observer member and advanced partner of the Andean Parliament, established on October 25, 1979 to represent the people of the five Andean States: Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Chile.
The institution aims to harmonize legislation, foster cooperation between the parliaments of the Member States, support participatory democracy, and enhance the regional integration process.
