The Speaker of Morocco’s House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, held, on Wednesday in Rabat, a meeting with his Jordanian peer, Mazen Turki El Qadi, who is paying a working visit to the Kingdom at the head of a high-level parliamentary delegation.
On this occasion, the two sides welcomed the historic brotherly ties uniting the Kingdom of Morocco and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, under the leadership of the two countries’ leaders, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Majesty King Abdallah II, the Lower House said in a press release.
Talbi Alami reviewed the democratic and institutional reforms as well as the major projects undertaken by the Kingdom under the Wise Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
For his part, El Qadi underlined the excellence of relations between the two brotherly countries, calling for further efforts to bolster economic cooperation, develop parliamentary action and deepen bilateral ties. He also invited Talbi Alami to pay a working visit to Jordan, which will provide an opportunity to examine the means of bolstering bilateral ties and intensifying cooperation between the two legislative institutions.
The two sides also stressed the importance of parliamentary coordination at the bilateral and multilateral levels, as well as the need of promoting the exchange of experiences, expertise and best practices between the two institutions, mainly in organizing parliamentary action, legislation and control, digital transformation and modernizing parliamentary administration.
Following the discussions, Talbi Alami and El Qadi chaired the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the two houses aiming to develop and bolster parliamentary cooperation through the exchange of expertise and best practices in legislation and oversight, parliamentary capacity building, revitalizing the work of parliamentary friendship groups, and coordination and consultation within parliamentary bodies in the service of the common interests of both countries.
