Lower House Speaker Holds Talks with President of Senegal’s National Assembly

The Speaker of Morocco’s House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, held, on Thursday in Rabat, a meeting with the President of Senegal’s National Assembly, Malick Ndiaye, currently on a working visit to Morocco at the head of a parliamentary delegation.

On this occasion, Ndiaye reiterated Senegal’s unwavering support for the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, welcoming UN Security Council resolution 2797, which affirmed the pre-eminence, the pertinence and the credibility of the Moroccan autonomy initiative as the final solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara, the House said in a press release.

He also highlighted the parliamentary bilateral ties, stressing that Senegal’s National Assembly and Morocco’s House of Representatives are working to bolster their bilateral and multilateral cooperation, to exchange experiences and expertise, to pay working visits and to coordinate their actions within the different regional and international parliamentary bodies, all within the respect of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, in the service of mutual interests and Africa’s development.

For his part, Talbi Alami recalled the deep and privileged historic ties between the two friendly peoples and countries, noting that Morocco and Senegal share the same values and objectives. He also welcomed the quality of parliamentary cooperation between the House of Representatives and Senegal’s National Assembly.

The Speaker of the lower house also emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts and joint action to achieve Africa’s development, underlining that the Strategic Initiatives launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI offer concrete solutions to Africa’s issues and contribute to the region’s prosperity.

In this respect, he reviewed the Royal Atlantic Initiative aiming to connect Sahel countries to the Atlantic coastline as well as the African Atlantic States Process (AASP) and the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline.
