The Moroccan delegation includes members of the national section of the parliament attached to the UPA, including members of the House of Representatives Hatim Ben Rkia, Said Bekri, Driss Chebchali, Madiha Khayer, Abdelilah Amhadi, and Aouicha Zelfa, as well as Nadia Bouzendoufa (secretary of the House of Representatives).
It also includes members of the House of Councillors Said Chakir and Mohamed Horma El Makhloul.
Among the major themes on the conference agenda are major topics such as “consolidating the national sovereignty of African countries for sustainable development” and “the challenges of energy transition and renewable energy development in Africa,” the House of Representatives said in a press release.
During this 47th Conference of Presidents of National Parliamentary Assemblies of the APU, the election of new members of the Executive Committee will be conducted in accordance with the APU’s Statutes and Rules of Procedure. These members will in turn elect the other members of the Bureau, namely three Vice-Presidents and a Rapporteur, and will appoint from among themselves a UPA Regional Representative for each of the five sub-regions of the continent.
The debates will also focus on a number of issues, decisions, and recommendations on the agenda of the 84th session of the AU Executive Committee, in addition to the program for the closing session of this Conference, during which the AU presidency will be handed over to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for the period 2025-2027.
Also as part of this pan-African parliamentary event, the AUP Women Parliamentarians Committee will hold a meeting on November 20 on the theme of “good digital governance in the service of women’s rights.”
During these proceedings, the Committee will elect its new Bureau in accordance with Article 34 of the UPA Rules of Procedure.
