Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, took part on Wednesday in meetings of the Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF), which is holding its 50th session at the French Senate and National Assembly through Sunday.
Talbi Alami and fellow parliamentary delegation leaders were welcomed by the President of the French Senate, Gérard Larcher.
The agenda of the APF Bureau meeting, which also included MP Latifa Lablih, representing the Network of Women Parliamentarians, covered the adoption of activity reports, parliamentary cooperation programs, and other organizational matters.
The full assembly is scheduled to convene in plenary sessions on Saturday and Sunday to address a range of issues related to the Francophonie, viewed as a vital pillar in the face of global transformations and crises. The debates aim to strengthen dialogue, cooperation, and solidarity within the French-speaking world, and to contribute to peace, stability, and sustainable development.
The Moroccan delegation, led by Talbi Alami, includes MPs Hassan Benomar, Lhoussaine Ouallal, and Latifa Lablih, as well as members of the House of Councillors Reda Lahmini, Youssef Alaoui, Mohamed Zidouh, and Mina Hamdani.
Established in 1967, the APF is an international organization comprising 95 member parliaments and parliamentary bodies from across five continents. It seeks to promote democracy, human rights, and the rule of law among its members, while fostering interparliamentary dialogue, linguistic and cultural diversity, and supporting sustainable development, economic cooperation, and solidarity within the Francophone space through joint parliamentary initiatives and recommendations to governments and international organizations.
