Some 1.9 million passengers and 447,000 cars crossed Moroccan ports between June 05 and August 15 as part of the “Marhaba 2024” operation, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics reported on Friday.

In a press release, the Ministry stressed that the transit operation is taking place “in good conditions” through Moroccan ports, adding that Moroccan ports welcomed around 1.33 million passengers and 317,000 cars, while around 570,000 passengers and 130,000 cars transited to Europe from Moroccan ports. The traffic flow into the Kingdom peaked on August 3 and 4, with more than 80,000 passengers and 20,000 cars, marking a major influx on these two days, the same source added.

“The services of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics are mobilized to put in place all the necessary technical and logistical conditions for the operation’s success, by providing sufficient transport capacity to meet the needs of Moroccans living abroad, as well as the diversifying maritime lines, while ensuring the quality of services offered on board ships and monitoring crossing fares,” the press release added. With regard to the return phase, and in order to ensure the smooth and safe passage of passengers through all Moroccan ports, the Ministry is calling on all travelers wishing to return to their countries of residence to book their travel tickets in advance with confirmed travel date and time, for all shipping lines, including “Tanger Med – Algeciras” and “Tanger Ville – Tarifa”.

“In the event of needing to change the travel date or time indicated on the ticket, those concerned should contact the shipping company concerned remotely before arriving at the port, in order to avoid any possible congestion at port level,” recommended the Ministry.
