Maroc Telecom, Morocco’s largest telecommunication services provider, is boosting its fiber internet services for its customers.

The company recently sent an SMS to its customers informing they will benefit from a fiber internet boost. “Your speed will double to 200 Mbps,” the message read, adding that it will charge them and that no action is required.

Maroc Telecom also said the step aims to improve users’ streaming, gaming, remote work experience, adding they will “enjoy more fluidity and speed on Maroc Telecom’s high-speed network.”

The company appears to be rolling out this upgrade gradually.

While some customers have already noticed the improvement, all subscribers will automatically move up to the next speed tier in the operator’s fiber optic service catalog.

Starting Sunday, April 20, 2025, all customers — both current and new — will automatically receive doubled internet speeds with no change to their monthly fees. The 100 Mbps plan will jump to 200 Mbps, while the 200 Mbps plan will reach 1 Gbps.

And it’s not only Internet speed, Additionally, subscribers will now enjoy unlimited calls to national landlines regardless of their subscription type. Reports suggest several hours of mobile calls will also be included in the plans.

This marks the first such speed increase since May 2017, when Maroc Telecom previously doubled speeds while maintaining the same subscription costs.

The move comes just weeks after the announcement of a “Big Deal” partnership with Inwi to promote fiber optic service.

Their landmark collaboration aims to accelerate fiber optic and 5G networks across Morocco, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation strategy.

The partnership involves two joint ventures, one focusing on expanding fiber optic network coverage, while the other is dedicated to 5G network expansion.
