Mauritania wishes to draw further benefit from Morocco’s experience in the field of vocational training, said Mohamed Malainine Ould Eyih, Mauritanian Minister of Vocational Training, Handicrafts, and Trades, on Saturday in Nouakchott.
Speaking at the Mauritania-Morocco Economic Parliamentary Forum, Malainine Ould Eyih stated that his country aims to benefit from Morocco’s experience in the development of “Cities of Trades and Skills,” the delegated management of certain vocational training institutions, as well as in trainer expertise and training program design.
He emphasized the close cooperation with Morocco’s vocational training department to leverage its experience “to save time” and accelerate the establishment of high-quality vocational training institutions.
The Mauritanian minister also cited the Nouakchott Trades and Skills Hub, currently under development, noting that the Moroccan Office for Vocational Training and Employment Promotion (OFPPT) would provide the necessary expertise for the successful implementation of this major project, inspired by Morocco’s Cities of Trades and Skills model.
He noted that cooperation with Morocco in this field includes the development of training programs, the implementation of a trainer-training initiative for Mauritanian professionals in Morocco, and the creation of a national agency for vocational education and training in Mauritania. This agency would consolidate all vocational training institutions, drawing inspiration from the OFPPT model.
Furthermore, Malainine Ould Eyih praised the “successes achieved” by Morocco in recent years in developing its economic sectors and attracting multinational companies, including airlines, thanks to the availability of well-trained human resources.
